Description
This church in Cholula, Puebla, Mexico, was built by Hernán Cortez on top of an Aztec pyramid, believed to be the largest in the world. The pyramid is so large that it is mistaken for a hill or mountain. The pyramid of Giza in Egypt is one of the most famous in the world, but it is not the largest. That title is earned by the Great Pyramid of Cholula, an ancient Aztec temple in Puebla, Mexico, with a base four times the size of the other Pyramids and nearly twice the volume.
Its base measures 450 by 450 meters, which is four times the size of the Great Pyramid of Giza.
In fact, the total volume of the pyramid is about 4.45 million cubic meters, while the volume of Giza is 2.5 million cubic meters.
